Charity Registration Number: 1152694

Welcome to Newark Community First Aid, we are a local charity (CIO) which began operation on 1st August 2013. Our objective is to provide first aid training to the local community and first aid cover at local events. Our aim is to provide a high quality, reliable and professional service. The organisation was set up by a group of dedicated individuals including, doctors, paramedics, health care professionals and experienced lay first aiders.

To ensure our services can be accessed by all, our Community Training and Community Event Services will be free of charge though donations are much appreciated. as this will allow us to sustain and develop. We do have to levy a charge for some services, but our aim is to make these charges as inexpensive as possible to again encourage the saving of lives and reduce suffering. We charge for our Workplace Training and for Large Commercial Event Cover. Our operational area is mainly Newark and a 15-mile radius around the town. All our members providing event services and community training are volunteers, our only paid staff are the training team involved in Workplace training.

2024 – Volunteers Needed

2023 was a record year for our charity:

  • Our volunteers gave 9,952 hours of their time providing first aid cover at events – a record number of hours – a record to be proud of
  • We treated the most patients ever in a 12 month period – saving lives and reducing suffering.
  • More candidates than ever before attended our Workplace Training Courses.

We also provided first aid cover at 346 events the second highest number in a year.

We saw a 73% increase in candidates attending our FREE Community Courses.

We could not achieve these incredible statistics without the huge commitment shown by our volunteers. We are extremely proud of all they do and feedback from patients, event organisers and course candidates proves the efforts of our volunteers are appreciated.

To be able to maintain and develop our services further we need considerably more volunteers. So 2024 is our VOLUNTEER YEAR.

If you would like to gain the benefits of being a volunteer whilst helping your community please contact us.

Mental Health First Aid Training

Last year we introduced Mental Health First Aid Training, we are able to offer a range of courses so that more work places can have trained Mental Health First Aiders on site. We offer a half day Mental Health Awareness Course, a one day Workplace Mental Health Ambassador course a comprehensive 2 day course Workplace Mental Health and Wellbeing Ambassador. Feedback from candidates has been excellent.

These courses have been produced by the First Aid Industry Body after consultation with a range of organisations. They concentrate on stress and common mental health issues, giving candidates a robust mental health action plan to help those in crisis or need.

With anxiety and depression now the leading cause of illness in the workplace, 822,000 cases in 2021/22 it is vital that all workplaces can provide support and advice to their staff.

If you wish to book on our Mental Health Courses please contact us for details of dates or if you have 6 or more candidates you can book an onsite course for your own staff.
